Björkö Gård in the northern part of Småland is a cross between Astrid Lindgren´s Bullerbyn and Saltkråkan. At the island of Björkö there is a village of farms in a row all in a genuine fishing- and archipelago environment, in the middle of a nature reserve. Björkö is an active farm with cows, horses, hens, dogs and cats and with 600 ha own fishing waters in the Tjust archipelago. Here you can stay in one of the farm cottages and after the day’s fishing, playing with the dogs or looking for berries in the forest, you can relax in the sauna at the pier and swim in the sea.

Fishing

Björkö´s own water include 600 ha of varied archipelago. The eastern part, towards the open sea, is less shallow with depth less than 6 m, while the western parts in the bay Gudingen offers depths up to 22 m. In the fishing waters of Björkö there are plenty of pike and perch as well as bream, tench, eel and whitefish. The average weight for pikes is approx. 4 kg and the record is 18 kg and 115 cm.

The fishing season in open waters is between middle of April until December. Spinning rods are nearly exclusively used for the pike fishing but even fly-fishing has been tried with good results. Perch can be caught using either angle or spinning rods. Angling is the best for catching tench and bream. As the nature reserve around Björkö is excluded from the free hand tackle regulation, you need a fishing license, which can be included in the package for the stay at Björkö or you can contact us and pay for a license. The fish you do not eat during your stay at Björkö should be put back. Each guest may take 2 fishes each home after the stay.
